Man allegedly attempts sui*cide after 'k*illing' wife, stabbing 2 kids in Kushtia

A tragic incident unfolded on the night of May 13 in Harishankarpur, Kushtia town, where a man allegedly mur*dered his wife and critically injured their two young daughters before attempting to take his own life. The victim, Meghla Khatun, 22, was married to Mamun Ali, a day labourer and painter. Their daughters, four-year-old Kulsum and one-and-a-half-year-old Jannat, suffered severe head injuries during the attack.

Police suspect that the motive behind the violence was a family dispute, reportedly fueled by allegations of Meghla's extramarital affairs. On the night of the incident, Mamun allegedly saw her speaking on the phone with someone, which triggered a violent reaction. He then attacked Meghla and their children with a sharp weapon before inflicting wounds on himself.

Neighbours quickly transported all four individuals to Kushtia General Hospital, where Meghla succumbed to her injuries around 11 PM. The two children remain in critical condition, while Mamun is also receiving treatment for his serious injuries. As of now, no formal charges have been filed, according to the police.
