Previously we were caught in the dog’s mouth, Now We've Fallen into the Tiger’s: Mirza Abbas

BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, addressing a BNP membership renewal and distribution event at the Cumilla Shilpakala Academy, asserted that the current government has stripped the country of freedom and sovereignty. He claimed that the media are prohibited from criticising the government.

He stated, “Previously, we were caught in the dog’s mouth; now we’ve fallen into the tiger’s,” suggesting that the current situation is even more precarious. He emphasised that the nation’s independence and territorial integrity were threatened by this government and accused it of laundering 90,000 crore taka within the last eight months.

Abbas further emphasised that elections represent the people's rightful claim, which must be secured through activism and struggle, not through pleading, but by demanding what is rightfully theirs.

He also urged vigilance in the party's membership recruitment process, cautioning that some opportunists and infiltrators are misusing the BNP’s name for extortion and land grabbing. He called on party members to ensure that such individuals are denied party membership.
