Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has said that the two student advisers (Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam) currently in the interim government have no affiliation with the NCP.
He stated that if they wish to engage in politics or participate in elections, they cannot do so while remaining in the government. In that case, they will have to leave the government and make decisions independently.
He made these remarks during a press conference at the NCP’s temporary office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Saturday (May 24) afternoon.
Nahid said, “They (the two student advisers) had joined the government at that time as representatives of the mass uprising. I was with them too. If they now wish to pursue politics or contest in elections, they cannot do that while staying in the government.”
