The Final Kiss: Humaira’s Father Kisses Her Coffin One Last Time with Tearful Eyes

Mehenaz Akhter Humaira (9) — her parents couldn’t bear the pain of her eternal farewell. Her mother, Sumi Akhter, was left speechless in shock. At the time of farewell, her father, Delwar Hossain, kissed her coffin again and again with tearful eyes. The couple, devastated, are struggling to cope with the loss of their only child.

The deceased, Humaira, was the only daughter of Delwar Hossain from Keranipara village in Hatiya Union of Sakhipur upazila. Delwar Hossain is a lecturer in the Bangla department at Milestone School and College. Though her parents survived the plane crash, third-grade student Mehenaz Akhter Humaira lost her life in the tragic incident.

The heartbreaking crash occurred on Monday (July 21) in Uttara, Dhaka. The news of Humaira’s death spread throughout the area by Monday afternoon. Locals began gathering at the family home in the evening. Her body was brought back to their village home around 2:30 AM.

Delwar Hossain, the bereaved father and lecturer at Milestone School and College, said, “I was in Khilkhet when I heard about the plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. I saw a video and rushed from the Khilkhet branch to Uttara. At first, they didn’t let me in. After much effort, I entered and started looking for my daughter. I found that the plane had crashed directly into her classroom. I have only one question—Dhaka is a densely populated city, so why was a fighter plane being flown here?”
